No Crying over Split Drama...

I was so, so, so upset over not being able to participate in MasterChef India; Surely, Star Plus is not in my favourite channels list; I don't watch the behenji serials airing; And watching a cute Diego exploring Iraq, pleading not to tell his mom, is much much better than epic nonsense dramas.

Is it just possible to fathom the thought that people who don't watch Star Plus, could not participate! Good, passionate, talented cooks have to be glued to sob-operas, in order to temper their culinary skills.. Thoughts like this, kept clouding my mind, when I first saw the TV spot on Star World!

Lo and behold! I AM SO EFFING GLAD I'M NOT ON THAT! Seriously, the producers have messed up the people, "dishes", judges and the entire handling and presentation of the show... Contestants, cry more, cook less.. Everyone seems to be having a long-lost-forgotten relationship with beta Akshay, Akshay Bhai!!! The judges are so inarticulate, despite Akshay agreeing with a participant! The more sadder, less fortunate, less able your story, more likeable you are.

I am an ardent follower of MasterChef Australia, and yes, they also have a moment or 2 of their own. Sometimes, they edit out a contestant recipe presentation; Sometimes there are a few unexpected spur of emotions. But they have a limited dose of drama, just like salt in food. Use according to taste.

5 two cent's worth:

  1. Hhahahaa!

So true. I was eagerly waiting for it to start but then, watching a trailer was enough to disillusion me :)

I don't think I've seen less palatable dishes.

  2. Hey I read your review on the show but partly agree with it. I think all the reality shows we have seen till date does have some drama element to it. It's human to cry & rejoice as per the situations. Infact I think thats what makes it a reality show. The judges have to be critical to get the best out of the contestants. I think a person puts more efforts while in pressure. Akshay was supporting the participants too. It's too early to judge the show, we should watch some more episodes before drawing any conclusion on this.

  3. Yo, Sprinkles, Probably, too much expectations!!!

Hey Dhriti, I agree, real life has more tears than happiness; But my appetite for tears and drama is almost next to ZERO.. You should also watch MasterChef Australia (Tues, Wed, Thurs, 9 pm, Star World) Their reality looks much real, than the dramatic reality shown in our desi version.. I wouldn't bother to watch any more episodes, though! Happy Viewing!

  4. totally agree with u..it is written on their facebook page "Master Chef India will be mentored and judged by the only Bollywood superstar who has a connect with food- Akshay Kumar."
Apparently "He is a man of the masses and was a chef in his initial professional years. "

Question is poore bollywood me sirf ussi ko khana banana aata hai isliye host + judge bana diya??? Also working as a cook in some eatery/restaurant and being a famous chef & having the credentials enough to judge others is different!!
I just dared to see the first episode and it is is just a typical tears fest reality show. Masterchef Australia rules!!

  5. Hey, been a while. I didn't see the whole show, just excerpts of it on the web. Pretty pathetic.
