Well, since I know, there will be a million criticisms of this post, questions of being whether I am being a patriot or not, polite suggestions that I leave this beloved country and go live somewhere more suitable.. Believe me; IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME A BIT!!!
There can nothing be a greater appalling thought like..
Sania Mirza will b marrying Shoaib Malik. WTF? if she was so desperate 2 get married,y didn't she participate in Rahul Mahajan's Swayamvar?? [Link]
It reaffirms, just how much respect one has for a fellow countryman; How much do you believe in keeping your nose out of other people's business... Answer is ZERO. And like always, nothing bad for men in the story; Why, he's the man, how can he do anything wrong? The burden of morality and righteousness lies in pious pallu of the Indian women. Obviously, when she would pray for Sachin's century in an Indo-Pak cricket match, would Mr. Aadeesh complain that she's not being an ideal Indian wife?!! I doubt...
First, M.F. Hussain and now Sania, more people getting lost to our so-called secularism and freedom of speech!!!
In other news, there was apparently a 'debate' over whether or not to serve beef to athletes and officials at upcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. Apparently, many local, foreign and communal forces were at work to make this minor issue into a full-force national debate. Now, this is a classic case of horribly misplaced/forgotten priorities, where we should be concentrating more finishing the required infrastructures, stadium, sport villages etc.; Instead we are getting hassled into whether or not to beef it up!!! Grow up, people! My mother didn't even touch garlic-ginger till she got married to my poultry-loving father and she did adapt.. Now she can have eggs and prepares a fabulous chicken recipe; Wouldn't you call that an ideal Indian housewife?
I can't imagine a situation if any country would decline to grace the occasion when their staple diet is absent from the menu; What will we do then? Put national pride on the back burner and stew our culture into a messy broth? Or do we present forbidden items, hoping the visitors will forget/foresee the absence basic amenities? This is clearly a double-edged sword, which will always be hanging on our vulnerable necks!
Quite obviously, once a sparkle of our eye, our culture is slowly grinding us to a painless but eminent death; Can we see it?
